Our
Story

It all began with the same question many families in Granbury still ask:
“Where should I send my child to school?”

We—Jamie and Tasha—first crossed paths as young moms at Lake Granbury Montessori Academy (LGMA). There, is where they witnessed the magic of child-led learning: curious minds, joyful discovery, and the quiet strength of trusted teachers guiding from the sidelines. It made a lasting impact.

As Tasha’s son approached Kindergarten, the search for what came next was sobering. Local public schools felt crowded and rigid. Jamie, a certified teacher, had enrolled her own son at a local elementary, only to watch him endure a classroom with no windows and 15 minutes of recess a day. He described Kindergarten as “mostly lining up and sitting at your desk.”

They realized something vital: the world our children are growing up in has changed—but the traditional education model hasn’t kept up.

Full Circle

Our journey led us to explore alternative options, including several local private and faith-based schools. But we believed something different was needed—a school where learners could drive their own journey, and where parents remained the primary voices in shaping values and belief systems.

We discovered the Acton Academy model—at different times, but with the same heart reaction: “This is what education should be.” In 2023, we opened Sage Academy to bring this powerful learner-driven model to life in Granbury.

In 2024, our story came full circle as Sage Academy became the new home for the legacy of LGMA. With deep gratitude for the Beasley family and the incredible Guides (formerly teachers) who have poured so much love into LGMA over the years, we are honored to carry the torch—preserving what’s beautiful, while gently expanding what’s possible.

Our Campus

Today, Sage Academy includes three distinct studios on campus:

  • Toddler Studio (ages 22 months–3 years): A nurturing, play-based environment where our youngest learners build trust, independence, and curiosity.

  • Primary Studio (ages 3–6): A Montessori-inspired space focused on hands-on exploration, foundational skills, and joyful learning.

  • Adventure Studio (ages 6–10): A dynamic, mixed-age studio that invites learners into deeper challenges, meaningful projects, and real-world problem-solving.

With a larger building to handle double our enrollment capcity on the horizon, we remain committed to the heart of our founding vision:  To create a school that inspires wonder, builds character, and helps each learner discover the unique calling they were born to pursue.
